Overview

The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) subsidises adults aged 18 or above on continuing education and training, to encourage the local residents to pursue continuing education.

Points to Note for Learners Enrolling in Eligible Online Courses

  • To meet the eligibility of applying for CEF reimbursement, CEF course participants of Eligible Online Courses must attend all parts of the final assessment / examination in person.

  • To seek the rebate from course providers, CEF course participants who have successfully obtained reimbursement from the CEF shall submit a request for rebate to the course provider / institution concerned by providing the Notification of Result issued by the Office of the Continuing Education Fund within three months from the date of issue.

  • Applicable only to Eligible Online Courses, the amount of rebate is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee of the courses, subject to a ceiling of $1,500. The rebate may either be in cash, in cheque, or through electronic payment to the course participants’ account with a licensed bank or to a stored value facility owned by the course participant and licensed under the Payment Systems and Stored Value Facility Ordinance (Cap. 584).

  • Course providers / institutions shall provide the rebate to eligible CEF course participants in a one-off manner and in full within three months after receiving the request for rebate. CEF course participants should sign and return to the course provider an acknowledge receipt, whether physically or electronically, upon receipt of the rebate.

  • Course providers / institutions are required to set up the rebate procedures for their Eligible Online Courses which clearly indicate the channels and requirements for all course participants to submit their request for rebate, the timeline for handling the requests and channels for providing the rebate to the course participants. Details of such procedures should be easily accessible by all course participants and provided to all course participants in writing before completion of the courses.
