How can I apply for the Student Travel Subsidy (STS) for Tertiary or Post-secondary Students?

Applicants should indicate the wish for STS in the online application form for financial assistance under the Tertiary Student Finance Scheme – Publicly‐funded Programmes (TSFS) or Financial Assistance Scheme for Post‐secondary Students (FASP) .

For full-time post-secondary students pursuing accredited, self-financing post-secondary education programmes covered by the FASP who are aged over 30 in the 2024/25 academic year (i.e. born on or before 31 August 1993), they are not eligible for assistance under the FASP. These students who intend to apply for the STS should follow the application procedures for the STS under the Financial Assistance Schemes for Primary and Secondary Students.

Are students taking distance-learning programmes eligible for the STS for Tertiary or Post-secondary Students?

No. Students taking the following programmes or periods covered by the following study arrangements are not eligible for the STS :

  • Distance-learning programmes, on-line programmes or programmes outside Hong Kong;

  • Term-time placement with allowance of any kinds; or

  • Exchange/placement programmes outside Hong Kong
