Overview

The Student Finance Office administers two financial assistance schemes for needy pre-primary students, including the Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission Scheme (KCFRS) and the Grant for School-related Expenses for Kindergarten (Grant-KG). Please click here for details of the schemes.

  • Computation Method of Fee Remission

    1. Nursery, Lower and Upper Classes in Kindergarten (K1 to K3):

      The fee remission will be calculated from the actual fee charged by the kindergarten* or the fee remission ceiling (whichever is the less), and based on the level of fee remission (i.e. 100%, 75% or 50%) applicable to an applicant.

    2. Child Care Centre (groups aged 0-2 and 2-3):

      The fee remission will be calculated from the actual fee charged by the child care centre (inclusive of meal charge) or the fee remission ceiling (whichever is the less), and based on the level of fee remission (i.e. 100%, 75% or 50%) applicable to an applicant. Detailed calculation is as follows:

    The fee remission ceilings and maximum meal allowance for the 2024/25 school year are set out below:

    1. Nursery, Lower and Upper Classes in Kindergarten (K1 to K3):

      • Fee remission ceiling (half-day class): $11,690 per student per annum
      • Fee remission ceiling (whole-day class): $30,390 per student per annum
      • Maximum meal allowance (whole-day class only): $617 per student per month

  • The grant rates for the 2024/25 school year are as follows:

  • Each eligible kindergarten student could only receive the Grant-KG once in the same school year. Student-applicants would not be disbursed with the Grant-KG twice within the same school year due to his / her transfer to another school or other reasons.
