Overview

The Student Finance Office administers various financial assistance schemes for needy primary and secondary students, including the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme, the Student Travel Subsidy Scheme and the Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA). Result & Payment Arrangements

Notification of Results
  • After completing the eligibility assessment, Student Finance Office (SFO) will issue notification of result to applicants starting from around August 2024.

Payment Arrangements

Note: During the period of 30 September to 3 October 2024, the Student Finance Office (SFO) will credit the latest batch payment of student financial assistance for the 2024/25 school year to the bank account provided by eligible applicants by auto-pay.  The student financial assistance includes Subsidy for Internet Access Charges for the 2024/25 school year (full rate and half rate of subsidy per household is $1,700 and $850 respectively) and the provisional School Textbook Assistance for the 2024/25 school year.  The provisional Textbook Assistance grant rates of eligible students for various class levels are as follows :

The bank transaction legends are generally shown as “TA” (for School Textbook Assistance) and “SIA” (for Subsidy for Internet Access Charges) in the bank passbook or bank statement. However, some banks may show different transaction legends. Applicants may refer to the above listed grant rates for provisional TA and SIA to ascertain the receipt of financial assistance.   • The SFO will release the financial assistance by autopay to those students who are confirmed to be eligible for the Schemes applied. Applicants may check their bank transaction record to ascertain whether they have received the assistance. For any enquiries, applicants may contact the schools their children are attending or call the 24-hour hotline of the SFO at 2802 2345.

  • Provisional TA and SIA will normally be disbursed in July / August 2024 to applicants for the 2024/25 school year who have successfully applied for textbook assistance in the 2023/24 school year and have submitted the household application together with all necessary information with supporting documents on or before 31 May 2024, met the eligibility criteria and passed the means test.

  • After confirming those students who are eligible for the Schemes applied, first-time applicants will normally be disbursed with TA and SIA from late October / November 2024. Student Travel Subsidy payment will also be normally arranged from late October / November 2024 to eligible applicants.
