Overview

DAE / DYJ tuition fee reimbursement provides students with financial assistance in the form of tuition fee reimbursement. Students who fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria can obtain 30%, 50% or 100% reimbursement of the tuition fees paid after the end of each school year.

I am a DAE/DYJ student. If I have failed in individual subjects, can I apply for tuition fee reimbursement？

As the reimbursement is subject-based, students who cannot complete individual subjects satisfactorily are still eligible for tuition fee reimbursement for the other subjects in respect of which they have attained an overall pass and 80% attendance or above.

I have already submitted the Household Application for Student Financial Assistance Schemes to the Student Finance Office in 2023/24, do I need to submit another application to apply for the DAE/DYJ tuition fee reimbursement？

If an applicant has already submitted the Household Application for Student Financial Assistance Schemes to the Student Finance Office in 2023/24, he /she does not need to submit another application.

My family members are in receipt of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) from the Social Welfare Department (SWD) for the time being. Shall I apply for tuition fee reimbursement under the DAE/DYJ programme from the SWD？

Tuition fee reimbursement will be made by the Student Finance Office to those eligible applicants (including those students from families in receipt of CSSA). Therefore, SWD would not grant any form of tuition fee subsidy to DAE/DYJ students, but might provide other forms of assistances other than tuition fee. Please contact SWD for more information.

I have once enrolled in Project Yi Jin (PYJ). Can I still be eligible for applying for tuition fee reimbursement under the Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) / Diploma Yi Jin (DYJ)？

Students are still eligible for tuition fee reimbursement for each satisfactorily completed subject under the DAE/DYJ programme even if they have previously enrolled in PYJ courses or / and obtained the tuition fee reimbursement under the scheme. Satisfactory completion of a subject means students have attained an overall pass in the subject and achieved 80% attendance or above for the subject.

What subsidy schemes can DAE students apply? Tuition Fee Reimbursement?

Both full-time and part-time eligible DAE students will receive reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily completed course , subject to their having attained an overall pass in the course and achieved 80% attendance or above for the course as confirmed by the institutions. Nevertheless, the courses must be essential for the completion of the DAE programme. Under the programme a student can only receive tuition fee reimbursement for a maximum of 8 courses. As the reimbursement is course-based, students who cannot satisfactorily complete individual courses are still eligible for tuition fee reimbursement for the other courses in respect of which they have satisfactorily completed. Needy students meeting the assessment criteria for full level or half level of assistance under the means test administered by the Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency are eligible for 100% or 50% reimbursement of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily completed course.

Besides, DAE students who have the right of abode, or alternatively, the students or their families have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the course may apply for a loan under the Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme to pay their tuition fees.

Full-time DAE students passing the means test of the SFO may receive Student Travel Subsidy, Subsidy for Internet Access Charges (the subsidy is granted on a household basis) and the flat-rate academic expense grant.

Students who have previously benefited from the Financial Assistance Scheme for Designated Evening Adult Education Courses (FAEAEC) are still eligible for tuition fee reimbursement under the DAE Programme.

If students have already obtained tuition fee reimbursement under the DAE Programme before they enrol on evening secondary courses provided by an approved course provider under the FAEAEC, they are not eligible for tuition fee reimbursement under the FAEAEC unless they have refunded the HKSAR Government all the reimbursement obtained under the DAE Programme. Besides, if students enrol on both the DAE Programme and the evening secondary courses provided by an approved course provider under the FAEAEC in the same academic year, they are required to choose between receiving tuition fee reimbursement under the DAE Programme or the FAEAEC.

Please note that if students study both the DAE programme and Diploma Yi Jin (DYJ) / Yi Jin Diploma (YJD) programme, he / she can only receive tuition fee reimbursement for a maximum of 8 courses from under the DAE/DYJ/YJD programme in total.
