Overview

The Student Finance Office administers various financial assistance schemes for needy primary and secondary students, including the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme, the Student Travel Subsidy Scheme and the Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA). The “Household Application Form for Student Financial Assistance Schemes” is a family-based application form. Applicants can apply for various student financial assistance for their child(ren) at pre-primary, primary and/or secondary levels by completing one single form. Applicants must be the parent or guardian of the student-applicant under the relevant ordinance.

The schools and/or class levels the student-applicants are attending must be under the categories covered by the relevant financial assistance schemes.

The applicant’s family must pass the means test. There are “full” and “half” levels of assistance under the student financial assistance schemes for students at primary and secondary levels.

The electronic application form (E-Form) is a timesaving, flexible and convenient way which promotes environmental protection and facilitates applicants to submit application anytime and anywhere online through personal computers or mobile devices (e.g. smart phones). Applicants may also save and retrieve unfinished E-Form for completion later.

Continuing applicants who apply for financial assistance for primary and secondary students for the 2024/25 school year and have submitted the completed application and supporting documents online on or before 31 May 2024, subject to meeting the eligibility for the TA and the SIA and passing the means test, will receive the provisional School TA and SIA for the 2024/25 school year earlier than those applicants using paper-based forms.
