Entry Requirements / 入學要求:
Applicants shall: (i) have gained in the HKCEE Grade E in 3 subjects plus Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language *, OR (ii) have gained in the HKDSE Examination Level 2 or above in 5 subjects including English Language and Chinese Language; OR (iii) have successfully completed the Yi Jin Diploma#. [Applicants with other qualifications will be considered on individual merit. Interviews and written tests may be required.] [* With effect from 2007, HKU SPACE recognises Grade E previously awarded for Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) (Grade C in the case of English Language (Syllabus A)) at HKCEE as an acceptable alternative to Level 2 in these two subjects at HKCEE. #Equivalent to Project Yi Yin completed in 2011/12 or before.]

Documentary Filmmaking (1.1) Introduction to documentary (9 hours) (1.2) History of documentary: The Lumière Brothers; Dziga Vertov, Robert Flaherty, John Grierson and more; British Documentary Movement; The World Wars (10 hours) (1.3) History of documentary: Re-defining documentary in the 50s; Direct Cinema, Cinema Verite and Free Cinema; The Reality Show (10 hours) (1.4) Documentary styles (10 hours) (1.5) The art and craft of the documentary (10 hours) (1.6) Story development (10 hours) (1.7) Basic production techniques (10 hours) (1.8) Producing for documentary (10 hours) (1.9) Directing for documentary, ethics and legal matters (10 hours) (1.10) Guided production and presentation of final project (10 hours)

Instructors' Qualifications / 導師資歷:
(a) At least a Master degree in the area of Documentary Filmmaking, Media Production, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, etc AND; (b) 3 years of relevant industry experience
